Cardiff 3-0 Barnsley

Paul Parry is congratulated by Joe Ledley after scoring the first goal

FA Cup finalists Cardiff City ended their Championship season with a comfortable win over Barnsley.

Paul Parry returned from injury to open the scoring on 44 minutes slotting home Joe Ledley's cross.

Barnsley keeper Luke Steele was at fault for Cardiff's second four minutes after the break with Kevin McNaughton's effort slipping through his hands.

Ledley then made the most of poor defending to grab the third goal at the far post.

  • Cardiff manager Dave Jones:
"I thought they went out and did their job superbly and got their rewards for it.

"If we can do that in the FA Cup final, I'll be very happy.

"It was nice to see Paul Parry back because he gave us a different dimension.

"I thought his goal was superb, with the movement and running off it."

  • Barnsley boss Simon Davey:
"We can look at wins over Liverpool and Chelsea as well as being very competitive in the league.

"The Championship is a fantastic division to be in and that is why we have worked so hard to stay there.

"It's been a long, hard season. I wish Cardiff well in the Cup final."
