Nantes deny link with Halihodzic

Nantes players and fans celebrate avoiding relegation Nantes have denied reports that they have lined up ex-Paris St Germain coach Vahid Halihodzic as their new boss.

The 52-year-old had been reported to be thinking over an offer from the French side, who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season.

But Rudi Roussillon, an adviser to club owner Serge Dassault, has issued a clear statement to quash the link.

"FC Nantes categorically deny that Vahid Halilhodzic will be coming here as a coach or as a manager," he said.

Halihodzic played for Nantes between 1981 and 1986, and was the league's leading scorer when the Canaries won the French title in 1983.

He has since coached at Lille and Rennes, and led PSG to the runners-up spot last season before he was ousted in January following a players' revolt.
