Kevin Ratcliffe on Wales
By Kevin Ratcliffe
Former Wales and Everton captain
Wales' World Cup qualifying draw could have been a lot, lot worse.
When you look at it and see the likes of Germany and Russia then you start to think it will be a big ask.
But after the last couple of performances we've had, you'd like to think we can pick up points against those sides.
It is going to be tough to win the group, we know that. So we should be aiming for second place and hope that from that we can qualify through the play-offs.
Qualifying will be a big ask, but this is the World Cup and it should be difficult.
But it could have been a lot worse and I feel we are in a better group then we were in for the European Championships recently.
We know we can compete against the lesser sides and win those games.
And if we can win some games early on and build up some momentum then we can gain confidence and kick on from there.
We are maybe competing against two sides for that second place, Russia and Finland, and we have to target those games as the ones we must win.
