Morrison then hit the woodwork 12 minutes from time with a low drive after good work by Eddie McCallion and Mark Farren.
The result keeps Derry in third place in the table - two points behind Bohs and a further point adrift of leaders St Pat's, who have Sunday's game with Shamrock Rovers in hand.
