Victorious Newport boss Peter Beadle was delighted to finally lift the FAW Premier Cup in front of their own fans.
County won the Cup after a 1-0 defeat of Llanelli in poor conditions at Spytty Park in Newport.
The win came on Newport's third appearance in the final and is Beadle's first silverware in two-and-a-half years in charge.
"To win it in front of our fans is something nice," he said. "It's nice to be winning trophies at last."
Newport made the most of the windy conditions with a late Craig Hughes header enough to beat Llanelli and lift the trophy.
The game looked set for extra time with Reds striker Rhys Griffiths and Newport's Hughes and Charlie Griffin all wasting good chances.

Hughes made the most of Lee Jarman's downward header in the 81st minute to score from two yards out and win the game.
The £100,000 winner's prize will provide a huge boost to club's finances with the club chasing further glory in the Blue Square Conference South where they are currently in the play-off spots.
"The conditions weren't good for a good final," explained Beadle. "At the end of the day we saw it through, we stayed strong, kept a clean sheet and got the all-important goal at the end."
Llanelli manager Peter Nicholas said he was disappointed by the Reds' performance but refused to blame it on the conditions.
"I think Newport deserved their win in a way because we never got going from the start," said Nicholas. "I'm very disappointed in the way we played.
"It was every difficulty for both sides with the strong winds and the pitch was quite heavy but that's no excuse. On the night, I think the best team won."
Llanelli still have the chance of securing a treble as they top the Welsh Premier, are in the final of the Loosemores League Cup, and semi-finals of the Welsh Cup.
The future of the FAW Premier Cup competition is uncertain, though, as BBC Wales will not continue its coverage next season.
