Giggs proud of double achievement

Ryan Giggs kisses the Premier League trophy

Ryan Giggs says he is proud of winning his 10th Premier League title and equalling Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 758 games for Manchester United.

The former Wales captain also scored in United's a 2-0 win at Wigan on Sunday.

"It's something that I'll look back on and be really proud of when I finish," said 34-year-old Giggs.

"At the moment trophies mean a little bit more to me, but I'm very proud to equal the record of someone like Sir Bobby Charlton."

He added: "At 17, you get in the first team and after that, you want to stay there.

"You just set yourselves little goals of winning things, staying in the team and improving.

"That's what you do at a young age to give yourself a chance, live your life properly and that's what I've tried to do."

Giggs, who made his debut for his only professional club back in 1991, could have the chance to break that record the Champions League final.

"The day he came to Manchester United, I knew he was special," said Charlton.

"Ryan Giggs is a wonderful player. He has been a really consistent footballer all through his career.

"He has been great and he has done it perfectly. He has behaved himself, he has a great rapport with the fans and he is a great credit to the club and himself.

"If I could choose someone to break it, it would be him. Nobody deserves to break records like he does.

"You need to be here for a length of time to understand this club and the strength of feeling that underpins it.

"His record with United is unbelievable and I'm really proud of him. I have forgotten about my record already."
