Whalley eager for new investment

Eric Whalley

Accrington chairman Eric Whalley has admitted he is keen for new investment, but dismissed claims he is willing to sell his interest in the club.

Whalley revealed he is disappointed with Stanley's progress this season, but will not be selling his shares and handing the club over.

"We're always looking for people to put investment in," the chairman told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Surely there will be somebody out there willing to put a few bob in."

"I think personally half the squad will be moving on at the end of this season"

"But as far as giving the club up for my shares I don't think that's ever an issue. At the end of the day there's no substance in me doing that," he added.

Whalley admitted this season has fallen well below expectations.

"I'm really glad it is at an end," he said. "Certainly the last few games the team have been playing poorly and I think one or two of them don't realise they are playing for a new contract.

"I think personally half the squad will be moving on at the end of this season. I think you can guarantee that with the outgoings and incomings the manager will be very busy."
