Aldershot complete Blackburn deal

Aldershot boss Gary Waddock has signed Swindon Town defender Chris Blackburn.

The 25-year-old began his career at his hometown club Chester before joining Northwich Victoria in 2003.

Blackburn, the nephew of Manchester City legend Alan Oakes, moved to Morecambe in 2004 and helped the club into the Football League in 2007.

He chose to move to League One side Swindon last summer, and spent the final two months of the season on loan at Blue Square Premier side Weymouth.

Waddock told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "He admits maybe it was too big a jump when he joined Swindon, but he just wants to come and play for us.

"He's strong, aggressive and a good organiser, and gives us competition."
