Rosicky and Diaby to miss run-in

Tomas Rosicky

Arsenal midfielders Tomas Rosicky and Abou Diaby will miss the remainder of the season through injury.

Czech Republic captain Rosicky, 27, has been out since January with a hamstring problem, leaving him with a battle to be fit for Euro 2008.

Diaby, 21, ruptured a tendon in his thigh in a reserve game on Monday and is set to be sidelined for eight weeks.

Fellow midfielder Alexander Hleb has already been ruled out of Arsenal's final three games through suspension.

All three will miss the Premier League game at Derby on Monday, the visit of Everton on 4 May and the trip to Sunderland on 11 May.

Rosicky made 18 appearances in the league, scoring six goals, before hobbling off during the FA Cup victory at home to Newcastle on 26 January.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had initially said Rosicky's injury would clear up in a matter of "days not weeks" but later described the problem as "not a serious one but a strange one".

Diaby was scheduled to return from a three-game ban at Pride Park but the injury setback is likely to dash any hopes he had of being called up by France for Euro 2008.

"It looks like the season is over for Hleb, Rosicky and Diaby," manager Arsene Wenger told the Arsenal website.

"Hleb is suspended and I don't believe we'll see Rosicky again [this term].

"But we have lost Diaby too. He was supposed to come back after suspension but he got an injury that will rule him out until the end of the season.

"It was a simple pass and he ruptured the tendon in his thigh muscle. It will be at least eight weeks for him."

Bacary Sagna and Mathieu Flamini are both nursing ankle problems and while goalkeeper Manuel Almunia is available after injury, Wenger may continue with Jens Lehmann for the trip to Derby.

"Almunia is available again but I have not decided what I will do with the goalkeepers yet," added the Frenchman.
