Lawrence looking for Italian test
Bristol Rovers director of football Lennie Lawrence is hoping for Italian opposition in the last game at the Memorial Stadium before it is rebuilt.
"I don't know about Fiorentina, but there's a possibility of an Italian Serie A club coming, or the top half of Serie B," he told BBC Points West.
Rovers are deciding whether to play two 'farewell' games in Bristol or to stage one pre-season friendly at Cheltenham.
"Two games at the Mem may generate more money," Lawrence added.
The Pirates announced last week that building work at the Memorial Stadium would be delayed so they could start their pre-season build-up on familiar turf.
But Cheltenham's Whaddon Road ground has entered the reckoning now Rovers are set to be tenants there for the next two seasons.
"I'd rather have a Championship club or something at Cheltenham, and an Italian club or foreign club at the Mem. That's my perfect scenario," said Lawrence.
