Clough glad to avoid long journey

Nigel Clough

Boss Nigel Clough is delighted Burton Albion have avoided an exhausting trek for their play-off semi-final.

The Brewers' 4-4 draw with Exeter means they face Cambridge in the Blue Square Premier play-offs instead of a two-legged tie with Exeter or Torquay.

"They're all good sides and would pose problems," Clough told BBC Radio Derby.

"But I'm just pleased that we haven't got so far to travel. We are not travelling on Bank Holiday Monday so that is great news for the supporters."

Burton host Cambridge at the Pirelli Stadium on Friday evening and play the return fixture on Tuesday night.
