Gallinagh signs Cheltenham deal

Cheltenham Town defender Andy Gallinagh has signed a new two-year contract.

The 23-year-old has played over 20 games this season and is the first of the Robins' out-of-contract players to agree to stay at Whaddon Road.

"I don't have any doubts about what he can do," Robins manager Keith Downing told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Downing has released Adam Connolly, Sam Foley, Michael Wylde and Craig Reid but offered new terms to six other players including forward Ashley Vincent.

Vincent has not scored for Cheltenham's first team since September but Downing has no qualms about offering the 22-year-old a new deal.

"The guy has a versatility about him, he plays left, right, up front, you'll have an opinion if he plays well or doesn't play well.

"He's a good type in the dressing room, totally committed.

"What he's got to decide is does he want to battle for his place at a first-team level at Cheltenham or does he want to go somewhere else and be a more regular feature."

Goalkeeper Scott P Brown, veteran full-backs Jerry Gill and Alan Wright, midfielder Craig Armstrong and centre-back Gavin Caines have also been offered new contracts.
