Albertz tips Clyde to come good

Jorg Albertz is backing Clyde to enjoy a profitable season in Division One.

In March, manager John Brown talked his former Rangers team-mate out of retirement to help the Bully Wee avoid relegation via the play-offs.

The 38-year-old German has finally hung up his boots but he told BBC Sport: "The gaffer has brought in a lot of good young players who are hungry.

"I think they will surprise a few teams. It's might be too early for promotion but maybe in two years."

Albertz featured in eight games for Clyde last term, scoring twice but he is not tempted to keep on playing.

"It was a nice experience," he added. "But I have finally retired for good.

"I am coaching with kids in Germany and my family are there but Scotland will always be my second home."

Albertz will be turning out for Clyde one last time in a friendly against Rangers at Broadwood on Tuesday.

And he will be joined in the home ranks by another former Ibrox favourite, Brian Laudrup.

"It's a great chance to get some money in for the club," said Albertz.
