Zola hoping to learn with Crewe
New Crewe signing Calvin Zola has said he wants to follow in the footsteps of the big-name players that have learnt their trade at Gresty Road.
Zola told BBC Radio Stoke: "I know a lot about the players that have gone on to big things after being here.
"It's a privilege to be at the club where so many have learnt their trade."
Zola will hoping to emulate the feats of Dean Ashton, Craig Hignett and Rob Hulse who all went on to play in the Premier League after leaving the Alex.
The DR Congo-born striker made his first appearance in a Crewe shirt in Tuesday's 4-1 friendly victory at Quorn, following his switch from Tranmere.
The 23-year-old marked the occasion by scoring his first goal for the Alex and says he has quickly settled into life with his new club.
"All the staff and the players have been very kind to me. It's a fantastic club with a great history and I am delighted to be here.
"I was so pleased when Crewe showed an interest in me and now I want to repay that by improving the team."
