Moyes confirms new contract talks
Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed he has opened talks on a new contract with chairman Bill Kenwright.
Moyes has 12 months left on his current deal but wanted assurances on this summer's transfer budget and the club's future direction.
He told the Liverpool Echo: "We have started talks and we are hoping things will be wrapped up quickly."
Everton have yet to make a signing this summer after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season.
Moyes submitted an ambitious five-year plan to owner Kenwright that was designed to build on the club's last campaign but it remains to be seen how much cash he has to spend.
Striker Andrew Johnson is likely to be sacrificed to raise cash, with a £10m deal likely and Wigan, Sunderland, Fulham and West Ham all interested.

What backing should Kenwright give Moyes?
Moyes said after leading Everton into the Uefa Cup for the second successive season: "The board have always supported me. They have always given me backing.
"Every manager wants to get as much as he can and I'm no different but I do think I've always been supported and I'll always be grateful for that. When I took this job I knew that there were not vast sums of money.
"Maybe there are a lot of clubs looking and saying that's the way to go but in the same breath you have to balance that out by having a good board who are going to give your manager some time."
