Court hands deadline to Halifax

The Inland Revenue asked for an adjournment for the club to pay its debts at a winding-up hearing.

The judge gave the consortium 28 days to complete their takeover bid.

"It is the consortium's intention to discharge the liability to HM Revenue," said Chris Haddock, the lawyer acting for Town director Geoff Ralph.

"I hope this will bring to an end the uncertainty the fans have had to endure over the past year and particularly the last six months," he told the Halifax Courier.

The Blue Square Premier club had earlier in the week approached a fans' community website in a last ditch attempt to avoid the club from folding.

However, with the 28-day reprieve, the consortium looks set to step in and pay off the debts looming over the former Football League club.
