Oxford set to sign Rushden pair
Oxford boss Brian Talbot has returned to former club Rushden and Diamonds to sign Andy Burgess and John Dempster, subject to the pair passing medicals.
Midfielder Burgess, 24, has signed a two-and-a-half year contract at the Kassam Stadium.
Defender Dempster, 22, has penned an 18-month deal.
Talbot told BBC Radio Oxford: "The two we have signed will improve us. Realistically we need a new striker in if we are to challenge this season."
The manager said he would be looking to bring in a new forward before the transfer window closes.
Meanwhile Oxford strikers Craig Davies and Chris Hackett are in talks with Verona and Hibernian respectively.
