Gannon keen County stick to ethos

Stockport boss Jim Gannon has insisted County will stick to their principles when recruiting new strikers.

Liam Dickinson's £750,000 move to Derby leaves Gannon in search of a striker plus a first-choice goalkeeper.

He told BBC Radio Manchester: "I have been very pleased with the progress non-league and League Two players have made in higher levels.

"I think that has persuaded me we will be looking at talent 'from below', if you like."

He added: "We will be looking to bring that type of player in and give them a platform in League One knowing they have the ability to do a good job for us.

"We will be looking to help them assist our team to grow into becoming a really good Championship side.

"We might have to look at two centre forwards and play a slightly different system if we don't find the 'point' attacker that we're looking for.

"We are looking to strengthen with young talent that has a chance of growing and becoming good League One players and much more than that in years to come."
