Torquay sign Forest Green skipper

Michael Brough

Torquay United have signed Forest Green Rovers captain Michael Brough.

The midfielder becomes the Gulls' first signing since the double disappointment of missing out on promotion and losing the FA Trophy final last week.

Brough, 26, who began his career at Notts County, made over 100 league appearances for them before moving to Stevenage Borough in 2004.

And, after two years at Forest Green, he has now signed a two-year deal with Gulls boss Paul Buckle at Plainmoor.

"It's been the hardest decision of my football career, I thought long and hard about it," Brough told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"The way the fans are at Forest Green they've been fantastic to me for two and a half years, Jim Harvey's come in and done an excellent job and he's been great with me and he's helped me no end as a player so it's been a really hard decision."

Speaking to the Torquay United club website, he added: "I have experience of League One with Notts County and I want to be back playing league football - that is my aim and I know that it is Torquay's aim so together we will get there."
