Hitting a ball above your feet

Above feet

Hitting the ball when it is some inches above your feet may seem pretty tricky.

But a few simple alterations to your stance and set up will see you nail the shot no problem.

STEP ONE

Above feet

As the ball is above the feet, the swing plane will automatically flatten resulting in the ball moving to the left in the air.

Therefore, make sure you aim your club and body to the right of the target.

Grip down the handle to compensate for the fact the slope means you are nearer the ball than normal.

You need to be a bit more upright than normal and keep your weight on your toes at all times through the swing.

STEP TWO

Above feet

Concentrate on following the line of the hill as you swing back.

It's also important to keep the angle of your upper body exactly as it was when you addressed the ball.

Keeping your head as steady as you can will help you achieve this.

STEP THREE

Above feet

Let your club follow the same path along the hill line and into the ball.

STEP FOUR

Above feet

Exaggerate your follow through keeping your weight on your toes.

It should feel like your are throwing the club out ahead of you.

Don't let the club come too far round to the left in front of you, which is what the curve of the hill will try to make it do.
