Valencia, Spain

It was not so long ago that the sole Spanish Grand Prix on the Formula One calendar had one of the lowest attendance figures of the year.

Now, in the wake of Fernando Alonso's success, the country is getting a second race because the Barcelona event cannot satisfy demand.

That is an incredible turn of events, and just goes to show how a top-line driver can ignite interest.

The European Grand will be run around Valencia's newly developed waterfront.
