David Coulthard

David Coulthard announced his retirement from Formula One at the British Grand Prix this weekend.

The Scot will be remembered as one of F1's gentlemen - and a driver who, on his day, was up there with the best.

The frustration for Coulthard and his teams was that he was more sensitive to the performance of his car than others.

That meant there were races when he was anonymous - but there were others when he had the measure even of Michael Schumacher, and proved it.
