McWilliams makes return at Monza

Jeremy McWilliams

Jeremy McWilliams is to ride competitively again at the age of 44.

The former MotoGP star will deputise for injured Wiltshire rider Tommy Bridewell at the Suzuki GSX-R750 European Cup on Sunday.

It is part of the programme at the fifth round of the World Superbike Series at Monza.

The Ulster star has not raced since March 2007 when his Ilmor team withdrew from the MotoGP Series because of they could not secure enough sponsorship.

Williams has since been involved in development work for motorcycle and tyre manufacturers and also in coaching young riders through his race schools.
