Lorenzo shrugs off broken ankle
Jorge Lorenzo will race at this weekend's French MotoGP after recovering from injuries sustained during the last round in China.
The 21-year-old Yamaha rider finished fourth in the Chinese Grand Prix despite crashing in practice.
Further examination revealed the Spaniard fractured his right ankle and damaged ligaments in the left.
But Lorenzo's doctor Xavier Mir said: "Jorge's pain threshold will allow him to compete without too much risk."
Lorenzo will continue to have physiotherapy on the two joints, which will remain immobilised before he takes to the track for the first free practice at Le Mans on Friday morning.
In the previous three races of his debut season in MotoGP, Lorenzo had managed three pole positions and three podium finishes.
His failure to reach podium in China saw him slip to second place in the championship standings, seven points behind compatriot and rival Dani Pedrosa.
