Scottish driver Barry Clark will make his World Rally Championship debut in Jordan after being called up as a late replacement for the Ford Munchi's team.

The 25-year-old had expected to work as a mechanic in Jordan but will now stand in for Argentine Luis Perez Companc.

Clark has driven a Ford Focus WRC car once before, on a promotional day.

He explained that Ford team boss Malcolm Wilson called him late on Tuesday and told him to "pack my overalls and licence just in case".

Clark added: "I was at the airport on Wednesday afternoon when he called again and told me I'd be starting the rally. I couldn't believe it at first, I was over the moon."

Clark is due to compete in Turkey, Corsica and Wales this season after winning a junior trophy event.

Companc was forced to pull out to return home for business reasons.
