Huntingdon's King set for Beijing

Marissa King

Huntingdon's Marissa King admits she has realised her "dream" after being named as part of Team GB for the Olympic Games in Beijing.

King, 17, was one of six women called up following the British Championships at the weekend.

Club-mate Kayleigh Cooke, 16, will travel to China as a reserve.

"It's every athlete's dreams to go to the Olympic Games...I can't believe I am one of them," teenager King told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

King will join Beth Tweddle, Hannah Whelan, Becky Downie, Laura Jones and Rebecca Wing in making up the British team.

"My ultimate dream is to make a vault final in the Olympics Games," she said.

"But [for now] I just want to get out there and compete the best I have ever competed in my life."

Louis Smith and Daniel Keatings will be Britain's two male entrants in China, whilst coaches Paul Hall and Monica Boru will also be part of the British squad.

"Paul's done fantastically with the boys and also on the girls side with the two of us [King and Cooke] going out to Macau and Beijing," King said.
