Ireland defender Jason Black has retired from international hockey.
The Cork Harlequins player made his senior debut in 1999 and went on to win a further 122 caps for his country.
Black's decision comes two months after competing in the Olympic Qualifiers in New Zealand and follows Andy Barbour's retirement a fortnight ago.
"With no more major tournaments until over a year's time it is vital to bleed some of the talented development squad players," said Black.
"Like every other member of the squad my ambition was to qualify for the Olympics.
"It was bitterly disappointing to lose out on a place in the final due to goal difference but this alone shows how far the teams and Irish hockey aspirations have increased over the last few years.
"We are no longer happy to make up the numbers in tournaments and are now truly in a position to qualify for major sporting events like the Olympics and World Cups.
"There is a very fine line in qualifying for major events and to do so experience is essential so the introduction of the development players into the senior squad will drive competition and also allow these new players to show their undoubted raw talent and push for their selection in the senior squad."
Ireland coach Dave Passmore said he would miss Black's presence on the pitch.
"Having worked with Jason at club and international level he epitomises what professionalism and commitment in sport mean.
"He has continued to improve during the period I have known him and had an excellent tournament this year in New Zealand.
"His strength and speed are such an asset to have in any backline and finding a replacement is going to be a hard task."
