Knee operation rules out Bailey
Tania Bailey will miss the European Team Championships and the British Open after undergoing an operation to repair a torn cartilage in her right knee.
The world number five had to retire injured from the National Championships in February.
Bailey, from Stamford in Lincolnshire, said on her official website: "I have been having problems for over a year.
"I am devastated to be missing the Europeans and the British Open as they are two of my favourite events."
She added: "My knee has been getting increasingly worse recently and although the physio and conditioning coach have tried everything it just hasn't improved.
The British Open starts on 6 May but Bailey said that will be far too soon: "It depends exactly what the surgeon finds when he does the operation as to how long the recovery will be but I will have intense rehab after so hopefully it wont be too long."
