Eels hooker Riddell joins Wigan

Mark Riddell

Parramatta Eels hooker Mark Riddell has signed a three-year deal with Wigan Warriors which will see him stay with the club until 2011.

The 27-year-old, who has been with the Sydney side since 2005, will arrive in the UK in December.

"I am pleased to have agreed terms with Wigan and really excited about the next three years," Riddell said.

"Wigan is the biggest name in world rugby and it is a wonderful opportunity for me."

Riddell has played 169 NRL games during which he amassed 621 points including 42 tries and 226 goals.

Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan said: "Mark is exactly the type of Hooker Wigan needs to lead our forwards and to further develop young Michael McIlorum.

"He adds strength and size, brings spark to our attack and is a hard working defender who plays considerable game time.

"Mark is a great character on the field who will go down very well with the Wigan fans."
