Hansen happy with legacy

" It was good for the boys, they scored some great tries "
Wales coach Steve Hansen

Departing Wales coach Steve Hansen was content after his side crushed Italy 44-10 in his final game in charge.

"It doesn't get much better than that, it was a good way to finish," he said.

"Italy are on a similar level to us, so to play so well was very satisfying. It was good for the boys, they scored some great tries.

"I have no regrets. I'm leaving for family reasons, we all knew that when I first came - I knew the job I had to do and hope that I've done it."

The win over Italy was Wales' best against any of the world's top 10 under Hansen, taking his record to played 31, won 11.

"We've all worked for each other over the past couple of years, it's about the whole, not one person," added the coach.

"These guys can go back to their regions now feeling good about themselves and excited about their rugby.

"I think the future of Welsh rugby is looking good. I think the key thing has been installing a professional attitude into a group of players.

"They have come a long way together over the last couple of years and I am sure we will all have a good talk over the next 24 hours."

Wales' man-of-the-match Iestyn Harris was fulsome in his praise of Hansen.

" Steve Hansen has helped develop me as a captain and as a person "
Wales captain Colin Charvis

"There had been a lot of talk in the media about it over the last week and Steve has done a lot for Welsh rugby over the last two years," Harris told BBC Sport.

"Everyone wanted to win it for him - you could see the players were glad to get a win and it's nice to send him home with it."

Skipper Colin Charvis said of Hansen: "Steve has done more than just develop a style of play.

"He has helped develop me as a captain and as a person and I am sure that other players would say the same."
