Scots pick uncapped trio for tour

Scotland head coach Frank Hadden

Uncapped trio Ben Cairns, Moray Low and Thom Evans have been named in Scotland's squad for next month's two-Test tour of Argentina.

They are joined by hooker Dougie Hall, who returns to the international set-up after recovering from a knee injury.

French-based players, including Simon Taylor, Nathan Hines and Chris Cusiter have been omitted, while Sean and Rory Lamont are sidelined by injury.

Five additional players will be added to the squad at the end of the season.

Mike Blair continues to captain the side in the absence of Jason White, who will undergo knee surgery when his season with Sale comes to an end.

Jim Hamilton, Scott Lawson and Ross Rennie are also unavailable due to injury.

"Experience is a precious quality at international level and we will look to Mike and a number of our seasoned professionals to set the tone on this tour," said head coach Frank Hadden.

Scotland will play the Pumas, who finished third at last year's World Cup, on 7 June (Rosario) and 14 June (Buenos Aires).

"We are fully aware of the size of the challenge but it's one we're looking forward to," added Hadden, who will be assisted by Sean Lineen and Andy Robinson.
