Charlotte Kerwood became England's youngest shooting medallist in Bisley when she won gold in the women's double trap.

The 15-year-old finished with a score of 141 points, seven clear of New Zealand's Nadine Stanton and nine ahead of Canada's Cynthia Meyer.

Susan Nattrass of Canada was fourth with Australia's Suzanne Balogh fifth and Evangelia Kakoyianni of Cyprus sixth.

"I don't really believe it," said Kerwood, who added that she had felt unusually nervous.

"I didn't expect to get a medal at all, I just hoped to get into the final."

She will be taking her gold medal back to Walden Park School in Sussex when she begins studying for her GCSEs in September.

Babb haul grows

England's Mike Babb won his second medal of the Games with a silver in the men's 50m rifle prone singles.

Babb had led the competition for most of the way but was denied gold by Australia's Tim Lowndes.

Lowndes moved ahead in the latter stages to win by the narrow margin of 699.8 to 699.

Babb took the 50m rifle prone title pairs with Neil Day earlier this week.

Australian Lalita Yauhleuskaya won the women's 10m air pistol title with 479.4 points.

Canadian Dorothy Hare was second with 477.9 and Australian Annemarie Forder took the bronze with 476.3.
